How to: Sweat Proof your summer makeup

Its been scorching in the mother city (Cape Town) since the start of this new week. And for alot of ladies who opt to rock their makeup, this heat could very well mean the end to their perfect makeup looks-myself included.

So it got me thinking, about which tips I would recommend to my readers to sweat proof their summer makeup looks. Feel free to tell me what you think of my tips, and if you`ve got a cool tip of your own, to stop this heat from ruining our makeup, then why not add it in. Stay cool! 🖐😁

1.  Firstly, ensure that your skin is cool before applying any makeup or primer. For me, I would stand in front of the fan, as applying makeup to damp skin, often means oily skin later in the day. Its best you cool off, beforehand. Stand in front of an open fridge door, or fan or if you really privileged up your air-con.

2.  Remember to always start out your makeup routine by applying only a dot or two of primer, or even a setting spray. It helps keep your makeup in tact for longer, but also will help to mattify your skin before you start your makeup routine.

3.  If you really can afford it, skip the powder, as powders often lead to caking of the makeup on ones skin. instead opt for lighter shades of cream blush, or eye-shadows. Darker colours will only put more focus on sweating skin.

4.  Use blotting paper. Not only will the blotting paper get rid of any sweat or shine easily, but it will prevent you from destroying your makeup if you try and take it off with some tissue, etc.

5.  Opt for makeup such as brow pencils that contains wax as it wont rub off easily once sweating sets in.

6.  If you use liquid foundation, apply it in a criss-cross motion as it wont start looking streaky when you start sweating. Concealer should be applied in the center of your face and should be worked outwards.

7.  Dab on foundation, do not drag your foundation across your skin.

8.  Skip on using lipstick, and opt for a creamer lip balm, or just a glossy lip balm. That way you wont be left, with lipstick running all over the place, when your skin is drenched in sweat.

I hope these tips come in handy for you, the way they do for me. And remember, if you have anything to add on, please do so!
